Texas's San Antonio — On 2 June 2025, Jonathan Joss a well known voice actor best known for playing John Redcorn in the animated series "King of the Hill" was shot and killed outside his former San Antonio Texas at home and his age was fifty nine. Shortly after the incident authorities charged 56 year old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja with murder and placed him under arrest. The motive is still being investigated.
With Comanche and Apache ancestry Joss had a successful career in video games, movies & television. From 1998 to 2009 he played John Redcorn on "King of the Hill" and he was scheduled to return for the much anticipated reboot. Along with appearances in "Walker Texas Ranger" "ER" "Charmed" "Friday Night Lights" & "Tulsa King" he also starred in "Parks and Recreation" as Chief Ken Hotate. He voiced characters in well known video games like "Red Dead Redemption" and "Cyberpunk 2077" and he starred in movies like "True Grit" and "The Magnificent Seven."
At the location of their former home which had been destroyed by fire earlier in 2025. Joss & his husband Tristan Kern de Gonzales were retrieving mail... when the shooting occurred. De Gonzales called the incident a hate crime in an emotional statement posted on Joss's Facebook page... claiming that the couple had been subjected to ongoing homophobic threats and harassment for more than two years. “He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other,” de Gonzales wrote. However, the San Antonio Police Department has found no evidence to substantiate that the killing was motivated by Joss’s sexual orientation. “We take such allegations seriously and will continue to investigate thoroughly,” a police spokesperson said.
